Transfer news LIVE! Chelsea discuss shock Ronaldo move; Raphinha to Arsenal; Tottenham’s Richarlison latest

[ad_1]

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are among the busiest teams as the transfer window heats up ahead of pre-season.

Todd Boehly has held talks with Jorge Mendes over a sensational move for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has concerns with the situation at Manchester United. Meanwhile, the Gunners have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Gabriel Jesus, who is Mikel Arteta’s key attacking target, and will now turn to Leeds’ Raphinha, with Spurs favouring a move for Everton forward Richarlison.

Defence is also an area all three hope to strengthen, with Arsenal facing a fight to sign Lisandro Martinez, as Manchester United also like the Ajax man, Spurs being frustrated in their pursuit of Djed Spence and a centre-back, while Thomas Tuchel has made Juventus stalwart Matthijs De Ligt one of six potential summer targets for the Blues. Ajax confident Timber will stay

New Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder is confident that Jurrien Timber will remain at the club this summer.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a reunion with Erik ten Hag, but it looks increasingly likely that Manchester United will not be able to secure the defender.

“I have spoken with Jurrien and I am assuming he is staying at Ajax,” Schreuder told ESPN.

“Timber is a smart guy and he knows what is best for himself. We don’t think he is done at Ajax yet.”

Royal admits he gets made with Conte

Emerson Royal has given an insight into the high standards demanded by Antonio Conte during Tottenham’s training sessions.

Already it’s been a busy transfer window for Spurs, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma all joining, while Richarlison is among those strongly linked with a move.

A swoop for Djed Spence also seems likely, though talks drag on, and should the wing-back be signed then there would be some questions regarding Royal’s future in north London.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian is in Conte’s long-term plans, but it’s clear that the Italian’s training methods have had an impact on the 23-year-old.

“There are some physical training, sometimes we do a strong training, it ends, and I finish the training dead,” Royal revealed in an interview with ESPN Brasil.

“I arrive at training the next day, and he’s [Conte] like, ‘Emerson, I didn’t like your training yesterday.’ It’s not possible, then I start to get mad already. ‘How did you not like my training yesterday? I gave life, finished training dead’.”

Merson: Nketiah wouldn’t start for Fulham

Paul Merson has claimed Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is not good enough to start for newly-promoted Fulham.

Nketiah recently signed a new contract with the Gunners, taking on the iconic 14 shirt in the process, as he opted to stay despite rejecting the offers put to him by the club during the season.

Merson told the Daily Star: “No disrespect to Nketiah but Mikel Arteta must realise he won’t get you into the top four. Absolutely no chance. That’s a fact.

“He’s not getting in at Fulham ahead of Aleksandr Mitrovic and they’ve only just been promoted.”
