Students graduate from unique pathway program at Taunton
The unique alternative pathway to top institutions allows international students to complete an International Foundation Year at the school in the UK county of Somerset.
Three pupils – Tricey Agbolu from Ghana, Paul Paclot from France and Jarry Wang from Hong Kong – passed the IFY course with a 100% pass rate.
“I am so proud of Tricey, Paul and Jarry, who have worked incredibly hard to achieve such fantastic offers to their dream universities,” said Adrian Hallworth, principal of Taunton School International.
The three students have received offers from University of Kent and University of Reading in the UK as well as Canadian universities HEC Montreal and University of Montreal.
“These students have paved the way for others to follow in their footsteps, and I cannot wait to see where their experience at Taunton takes them next.”
Taunton is one of two UK schools that offer the foundation year, which includes an English for Academic Purposes module to ensure pupils are prepared for university-level coursework.
The program at Taunton also offers its own Pre-Foundation Year, which delivers necessary skills and qualifications at 16 or 17 to access the IFY the following year.
“The IFY and our own Pre-FY are ideal for international students thinking of studying any business-related subject at university”
“The IFY and our own Pre-FY are ideal for international students thinking of studying any business-related subject at university: Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies and Financial Management,” Hallworth added.
Tricey, who will be attending the University of Kent, said that the business-focused aspect of the course provided her with “a clear pathway for studying at university”.
“The EAP element gives me an advantage over people who follow the normal A-level route, as I have been taught how to write university-standard essays and coursework,” she added.
