SMRT English signs agreement with the State of Sonora, Mexico
Victor Guerrero Gonzalez, secretary of Education and Culture, signed the agreement on behalf of Lic. Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, governor for the State of Sonora in the presence of state university presidents, rectors and Sonora state education administrators.
“More than 8,000 students will have free access to an English teaching program”
Several institutions present at the ceremony had been using the Smrt English program for a number of years and it is officially open to all institutions in the state.
“This agreement came to be because the state was looking for a solution to teach English virtually and knew schools in the state had already transitioned seamlessly [online], and wanted to create an offer for all their institutions to use Smrt,” explained Zach Taylor, chief marketing officer at Smrt.
Taylor, Jim Clark (CEO), Ana Sesma (CEO Smrt Mexico) and Angel Gallegos (accountant) attended the signing ceremony on behalf of Smrt English.
“More than 8,000 students from the seven state technology universities will have free access to an English teaching program as a result of the agreement between the Ministry of Education and Culture (SEC) and Smrt English,” said Guerrero González.
Guerrero González explained that the agreement will benefit students and teachers from the technological universities of Nogales; South Sonora; Puerto Peñasco; San Luis Rio Colorado; Hermosillo; Etchojoa and Guaymas.
He said Smrt English will be of great help for those universities, as they have strong technology platforms that allow young people to continue their studies at a distance.
From Vancouver, president and founder of Smrt English, Jim Clark, thanked the Sonoran government for the alliances that will further improve English language teaching in Sonara.
He said that the system is currently used by more than 200,000 students and nearly 6,000 teachers in institutions globally.
