Well, NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) is a test administrated by Pearson VUE to provide international students nursing licenses in the United States of America, Canada and Australia-RN. There are two types of NCLEX: NCLEX-RN, one which makes a candidate a registered nurse, and NCLEX-PN, one which makes a candidate a practical nurse. As far as the requirements for NCLEX is concerned, there are certain criteria you have to meet for an NCLEX application. To be eligible to participate in the NCLEX from Nepal, first of all, you must be a registered nurse (RN) of Nepal. Other requirements differ according to the states and territories of the country you are applying for. For different states, different requirements are to be fulfilled to participate in the NCLEX exam.

Some states may even ask you to clear a CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) examination. This test is based on what you learned in your nursing school. Some states may even ask you for an English Language Competency test such as IELTS and TOFEL as well.

Moreover, if you are applying for the NCLEX exam in the United States, a state board of nursing of the country may even ask you to register a CES (Credential Evaluation Service). If you are applying to such state boards, you will need to submit a CES registration to the state board. Students will require to register their CES.

Once you are eligible and fulfilled all the requirements for NCLEX, asked by a stated board of the country you choose for, you can apply for an NCLEX exam. It is recommended to apply for the NCLEX exam on Pearson VUE so that you can receive your Authorization to Test (ATT letter) earlier. Below are the steps to register for an NCLEX exam on Pearson VUE.

  1. Register your NCLEX application on www.pearsonvue.com/nclex.
  2. Pay your $200 exam fee through the website. Your registration will be valid for 365 days.
  3. Wait for your ATT letter.
  4. Receive your ATT letter. It will have an expiry date on it.
  5. Follow instructions from Pearson VUE.
  6. You will be given your NCLEX exam date. You must pass the test to get a nursing license.
