Arsenal chief Edu Gaspar drops transfer hint following Fabio Vieira arrival

Arsenal transfer chief Edu Gaspar has sent fans on social media into hysterics as he revealed that he hopes to have more good news soon on the transfer front following the signing of Fabio Vieira.

The 22-year-old has joined the Gunners from Porto on a long term deal, setting the club back around £35m for his services, and was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

However, his arrival has been somewhat overshadowed by rumours of yet more deals in the pipeline, including Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and Lisandro Martinez, all of whom would require significant outlay.

And Edu has since fuelled those flames, telling the official Arsenal website that “I think we still have some good, positive conversations to be fair. I hope we can give to the fans some good news”.

Any rumoured deal for Gabriel Jesus is expected to be sorted one way or another this week, while deals for Youri Tielemans, Raphinha and Martinez could drag on for much of the summer window and depend on outgoings.

Arsenal to continue to focus on youth

Arsenal frequently fielded the youngest XI in the Premier League last season, and when asked about the plans for the future, Edu continued to stress the importance of both the academy and signing younger players, such as Vieira.

Blending the right amount of experience with their young stars will be the true test of Mikel Arteta’s squad building, and will determine whether they can finally make a return to Champions League football next season.
