IEAA celebrates innovators in Aus international education

Australia’s international education sector is the nation’s fourth largest export and the world’s third most popular study destination for international students.

“Over one in 50 people in Australia is an international student,” said IEAA CEO, Phil Honeywood.

“International education has played and will continue to play a critical role in enhancing
Australia’s cultural diversity”

“As such, international education has played and will continue to play a critical role in enhancing
Australia’s cultural diversity, international connections and economic prosperity.”

“In what has been an incredibly challenging year for our sector, we have seen amazing innovations and outstanding contributions from colleagues,” added Janelle Chapman, president of IEAA.

“We will continue to work towards a safe reintroduction of international students to Australia.
Welcoming our students back to our shores will be a key lever to mitigate the impact of covid-19 on our economy and way of life” added Chapman.

“These initiatives… will ensure that we continue to be a top study destination in the minds of international students and in equal measure, ensure Australian students have access to life changing global experiences”.

“We recognise these significant contributions by our colleagues. Their efforts, and those of their peers, will ensure that we can we rebuild, reconnect and reenergise to maintain our status as a global education leader” concluded Honeywood.

A common thread among this year’s awardees is their passion and dedication to enhancing the international student experience for both international and domestic students, IEAA added.
