ELI opens new language school in Dublin

Founded in 2017 ELI offers English language training along with a package of ancillary services including accommodation, airport transfers and tourism services for adults and teenagers year-round. It already runs two language schools in Ireland.

“The vaccination rates should make Ireland one of the safest destinations to study”

The new school will have 20 classrooms and include student lounges with table tennis and a coffee dock. It’s opening comes after the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in large parts of the industry shutting down for 18 months.

Opening a large new school in the peak of a pandemic, and while Ireland is still closed, might seem counterintuitive to many,” said ELI managing director, Peter Hutchinson.

“However, we’re confident that Ireland is in a good place. The vaccination rates are among the best in the world which should make Ireland one of the safest destinations to study in when we [Ireland] reopen.

“Ireland has long been a first-choice destination for many, and Dublin is arguably one of most exciting cities for young people,” he said.

Hutchinson argued that Dublin’s nightlife and the quality of accommodation options would be a draw for students. He also said that Ireland’s economy is “thriving, with thousands of student job opportunities”.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, and as some destinations remain closed, we hope that Ireland will be seen as a quality and safe destination and that 2022 is a strong year of recovery for all,” he said.

ELI noted that over 90% of adults will be fully vaccinated in Ireland by the time they open their new school and the majority of staff and existing students are fully vaccinated.

“The industry is eagerly awaiting the next update from the Irish government on August 31, when it is hoped a roadmap to the return of international students will be announced,” ELI said.
